Willow's Greatest Show!

In Willow class this week,  we have been continuing with our story book writing. The children are really excited to finish their books and read them to the rest of the class. Willow class have continued to create their own stage, performing songs to each other and record them on the class IPad. We have been supporting and encouraging each other to get up on stage and perform.

In Maths this week, we have been looking at prepositions and maps. The children have had a go at drawing their own maps and giving instructions to their peers using some clear and concise language such as; in between, in front, above, behind etc. We then went on our very own treasure hunt - with some secretly hidden prizes in the garden. The children drew their own maps and followed the directions to create their own pathway to find the treasure. This was VERY exciting!

Willow have had an incredibly exciting week, demonstrating both creativity and great team work! One of the highlights this week has been our fantastic stone challenge, where we designed our own boats and organised a thrilling competition to see which could hold the most stones. This project clearly showcased Willow Class's ability to think outside the box and their fantastic teamwork as we encouraged all classmates to join in the fun. This then extended across the week to improve our boats by using different shapes and other materials. We documented all the scores on the chalkboard and worked out who were the top three winners!

This week Willow class enjoyed spending some time in their new Year One Class and with their new Teacher Miss Mewett. Miss Mewett was very impressed to discover that Willow Class have been working hard to improve their sentence writing and perfecting their handwriting ready for Year One.

Willow class have been busy transforming the role play area into a ‘pizza shop’. The children helped create their own props and labels for the items needed in the shop, for example they chose to label the wooden skittles as ‘pizza sauces’ labelling them independently as: ketchup, bbq sauce and mayonnaise. If anyone has any pizza/takeaway menus laying around spare at home, we would really appreciate some for our role play area! Willow class have also been busy creating some fantastic props for their much loved ‘stage’ including drums, guitars and microphones, proudly creating labels for the ‘Willow’s greatest show’.
