Willow Class Weekly Whirlwind: Tiddler Tales, Doubling Delights, and Pirate Plunder!
Willow Class has been buzzing with activity this week, embarking on exciting new adventures in literacy, maths, and geography!
We kicked off the week by diving deep into the watery world of "Tiddler," the lovable, if somewhat unreliable, little fish. We've been thoroughly enjoying the story and exploring the creative ways Tiddler gets himself out of trouble!
In maths, we've been learning to double the fun! We started our mathematical journey by identifying pairs of objects, solidifying our understanding of what 'two' really means. From there, we confidently progressed to doubling numbers, mastering the art of adding a number to itself to find its double. The children have been working hard and showing real progress!
Our geography lessons took us on a thrilling quest with Molly the Pirate Girl! We've been learning how to extract information from maps, using her exciting treasure hunts as inspiration. We've been studying pirate treasure maps, deciphering symbols and clues to locate hidden riches (at least in our imaginations!). It's been a fantastic way to develop our map-reading skills and learn about the importance of geographical understanding.
But perhaps the highlight of the week was celebrating World Book Day! The classroom was transformed into a vibrant tapestry of characters, with children dressing up as their literary heroes and heroines. From ferocious pirates to clever witches and brave adventurers, the creativity was truly inspiring! We were also fortunate enough to have the author Ian McDonald visit us to read from his works. It was a truly special experience to hear stories directly from the creator and to learn about the magic of storytelling.
