What a whirlwind of wonder it's been at Honeybees!
What a whirlwind of wonder it's been at Honeybees this week! Every day has felt like an adventure, packed with discovery, laughter, and a whole lot of autumn magic.
Our maths minds have been buzzing, diving headfirst into the exciting world of "big and small." With our trusty friend Concept Cat by our side, we’ve been exploring what "large" truly means, comparing everything from our tiny fingers to the biggest leaves we could find. This foundational learning took on a truly hands-on dimension in our brand-new outdoor pumpkin patch! Here, amidst the vibrant orange and green, we’ve had countless practical opportunities to compare the size and weight of different pumpkins and marrows. Our gross motor skills got an incredible workout too, as we enthusiastically hammered golf tees into the giant marrows – a fantastic, noisy activity that had everyone giggling with concentration!
Autumn has truly inspired our play this week. We’ve become little scientists, carefully observing how conkers roll, float, and even sink in water – a fascinating exploration of properties and predictions. Our creative flare shone brightly in the outdoor area, where we crafted our very own natural paintbrushes, experimenting with different textures and strokes. The star of our art session, however, was definitely the messy blackberry paint. We concocted several recipes, turning juicy berries into vibrant hues that adorned our canvases.
Wednesday was a high-energy highlight, thanks to our wonderful session with Wayne! We had the most tremendous fun exploring all sorts of dynamic movements. From soaring high with our jumping, to soft and controlled landings, and then tumbling into exciting rolls, every child embraced the challenge with enthusiasm and huge smiles.
