Oak Explore Patterns
This week in Oak Class, the children have been working incredibly hard across all areas of the curriculum.
In Writing, we have continued to explore Little Red Riding Hood, focusing on adapting and improving our own versions of the story. The children have really enjoyed learning new actions to help them remember key parts. We have also been working carefully on using capital letters and full stops correctly in our sentences.
In Maths, we have been learning how to add and subtract money. The children have done brilliantly applying their knowledge to mixed amounts of pounds and pence. They have practised finding the total first and then calculating the answer. It has been lovely to see their enthusiasm, with many children bringing in their own examples to share.
n History, we discussed how classrooms in the past were different from those we have today. The children began by sharing their existing knowledge and then learned new facts, such as classrooms having stoves to keep warm. They were quick to explain that this was because radiators had not yet been invented.
In Art, the class explored patterns and design. Using their hands as a template, they created detailed patterns inside the shape, thinking carefully about line, shape and size. The results were very creative and eye-catching!
