Oak Class settle back in to class!

The children have been working incredibly hard and are continuing to settle brilliantly into their new routines.

This week, we have been writing sentences to match different scenes from Jack and the Beanstalk. We have been working especially hard on keeping our letters on the line and remembering to use finger spaces between our words. We are already seeing some fantastic progress!

In Maths, we have been busy practising our counting skills by counting forwards and backwards. We have also been learning to find one more and one less. The children have enjoyed using lots of different resources to help them show and explain their thinking.

In Science, we explored different activities that we might do during each of the four seasons. We discovered that some activities are more suited to particular seasons. For example, sledging would be rather tricky in the summer because there probably wouldn't be any snow!

In History, we talked about birthdays and the different ways we celebrate them. We then looked at photographs and watched a video to find out how birthdays were celebrated in the past. We sorted photographs into past and present and noticed that, although some things have changed, many birthday traditions are still the same but might look a little different today.
