Oak Class Weekly Update -non-chronological reports
This week in English, Oak Class have been learning all about non-chronological reports. After exploring the key features, the children drafted their own reports about a made-up alien. Once they were confident with the layout, we moved on to researching castles—looking at common features, key facts, and interesting information about well-known castles in the UK.
Next week, the children will put all this learning to good use during our exciting trip to Leeds Castle on Monday!
In Maths, Year 2 have been focusing on adding two-digit numbers, both with and without exchange, using concrete resources to support their understanding. Year 1 have been consolidating their addition and subtraction skills.
In History, we explored the differences between motte-and-bailey castles and stone keep castles, and learned about the first king to introduce castle-building in England—and his reasons for doing so.
