Oak Class Term 5 roundup!
What a wonderful final week we have had, and the sunshine even made an appearance towards the end!In English, the children wrote their own stories and did a fantastic job.
They worked hard to include exciting adjectives, as well as using capital letters and full stops correctly. We were particularly impressed with the effort many children put into their handwriting. The Year 1 children have also been learning how to use leads in and leads out and have shown great determination in applying this to their writing. In Maths, we have been consolidating our understanding of halves and quarters.
The children have really enjoyed this unit, and we will revisit it after half term when we move on to learning about thirds. In Science, we had great fun observing the plants we have been growing. It was fascinating to see how differently they developed. We were surprised by the plant that grew in a dark cupboard with water, and we discovered that the tallest plant was the one given both water and sunlight, but kept out of direct sun.In Art, we were inspired by the artist Paul Klee to create our own Castle and Sun drawings using wax crayons. The children loved expressing their creativity and producing their own unique pieces.
