From Soft Sheep to Sparkling Bees: Honeybees’ Busy Week of Sensory Learning, Crafting, and Community Cheer!

What a wonderfully whirlwind week it has been here at Honeybees!

As the festive season officially kicks into high gear, our little learners have been immersed in sensory exploration, crafting beautiful decorations, and embarking on a very exciting community adventure.

The Learning Concept: Soft and Fluffy

This week, our learning focus has been on the concept of soft. We explored textures, felt different fabrics, and discussed objects that feel gentle and comforting. This sensory investigation naturally linked to our favourite rhyme of the week: Baa Baa Black Sheep. The children loved imagining just how soft that sheep’s fluffy wool coat must feel—a perfect connection to the world around us!

Crafting for the Community (And Our Own Tree!)Our hands have been extremely busy turning simple materials into sparkling Christmas treasures.

Buzzing to the Church Festival: In a fantastic show of community spirit, our Honeybees got crafty creating decorations for the local Church Christmas Tree Festival. We embraced our namesake, transforming plain pinecones and bright yellow wool into adorable, fuzzy honeybee ornaments. We can’t wait for you all to see these little guys buzzing among the branches!

We’ve also been busy making our classroom festive. The smell of baking mixed with excitement as the children rolled and shaped salt dough decorations for the Honeybees’ very own Christmas tree. These personalized keepsakes are sure to make our tree the cosiest one around.A Real-Life Trip to Will’s Bakery and Cafe

The absolute highlight of our week was a special trip out that brought the children’s imaginative play to life! Following their recent interest in role-playing cafes and bakeries, we were thrilled to visit the wonderful team at Will's Bakery and Cafe.

This visit was an invaluable learning experience. The children got to see what it was really like to be a customer in a busy cafe—ordering, waiting patiently, and practicing their social skills. We all thoroughly enjoyed a delicious, warming hot chocolate and a festive gingerbread man

.Crucially, the children also got to pay for their treats, building their understanding of money and real-life transactions. In a truly generous act of community kindness, Will’s kindly handed the money back to us at the end of our visit. After confirming with our parents, we are delighted to announce that this unexpected donation has been added directly to our growing fundraising pot!
