Copper Beech Class Trip to Greenwich and the Cutty Sark
Copper Beech had an amazing trip to Greenwich and the Cutty Sark on Monday. The children explored each level of the historic ship and saw the tea chests that were used to store tea during the Cutty Sark’s trading journeys, and learnt about its various trade routes around the world.
They also discovered what life was like on board, comparing the living conditions of the sailors with those of the captain. In Greenwich, the children visited the Prime Meridian and saw the famous time ball that drops at regular intervals, which was once used as an important timekeeping device for ships.
The trip also included learning about General Wolfe, who led the Battle of Quebec, helping Britain to gain control and shaping the history of the country.
It was a fantastic day full of learning and exploration, and the children represented the school beautifully.
