Buzzing around through Music and Movement!

This week in Honeybees, we’ve been exploring feelings through music, movement, and creative play. Our focus song has been “1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Once I Caught a Fish Alive,” which the children have loved singing, counting along to, and acting out with their hands.

Building on our “All About Me” theme, we’ve been learning that our faces and bodies can show how we feel. The children have been identifying and naming simple emotions such as happy, sad, angry, and scared. Using loose parts, they created their own feelings faces, carefully arranging items to show different expressions.

We’ve also shared stories about feelings, helping the children recognise emotions in characters and relate them to their own experiences. To bring this learning into their bodies, we used the parachute for feelings games, matching movements to emotions; gentle waves for calm, big shakes for excited, and hiding underneath when exploring feeling shy or scared.

A huge thank you to all the parents and carers who joined us on Wednesday 23rd September to support our MacMillan Coffee Morning. It was wonderful to see so many of you there, enjoying a chat, a slice of cake, and helping us raise money for such an important cause. Thanks to your generosity, we raised £46.85 through cash donations on the day. If you could not attend the coffee morning and would like to donate online, please scan the QR code below.

It’s been a lovely week of building emotional awareness, early counting skills, and lots of joyful singing.
