A Sunny Week at Honeybees
This week, the classroom at Honeybees has been transformed into a bustling coastal retreat! We’ve spent the last few days diving deep into all things seaside, sparking wonderful conversations about what we might discover where the land meets the sea. We’ve compared the textures of different shorelines—from the crunch of pebbly beaches to the soft, squishy feel of golden sand—and shared our own stories of trips to the coast.
Of course, no trip to the beach is complete without a treat! We put our data-gathering skills to the test and created a classroom tally chart to settle the ultimate debate: which ice cream flavour reigns supreme? It’s safe to say that our Honeybees have very strong opinions on sprinkles and chocolate sauce!
In our Maths sessions, we’ve been busy working with hands-on manipulatives. The children have been doing a fantastic job using these tools to explore the concept of "one less" within a group, as well as developing their measuring skills by comparing different lengths. Seeing the children problem-solve and explain their thinking has been a highlight of our week.
Our young artists have also been hard at work. We focused on the beauty of nature this week, slowing down to create detailed observational drawings of seashells. The level of focus and the intricate patterns they captured were truly impressive—we have some budding naturalists in our midst!
